Mt Herman Trail-head Sign |
What a great idea my wife had; a day hike to Monument Rock along the Mount Herman Trail in the Pike National Forest. I say trail, but there were many with no real clear way of knowing what went where besides having a general idea of what direction you "think" you want to go. |
The trail conditions along the entire route were great! So was the day! We met a few fellow hikers out and a few bikers too. |

Nature's Noises |
The serenade from the pond, just off the trail, was fabulous! |
I appreciate the effort with placing the bird boxes all along the trail. Wonder if it was an Eagle Scout or National Forest project or other? In the last image you get a peek at Monument Rock off in the distance. |

Tree Swallow? |

Is This A Tree Swallow? |

Garden Warbler? |

I've got a few birds I see a lot and I cannot yet positively identify. Do you know if my preliminary identification efforts are correct? |
Some of my friction fire friends may appreciate this. |
Constantly getting closer, yet the rock still looks so far and small away in pictures. |
Up close, the rock's size finally can be appreciated! |
Can't wait for our next day hike adventure! |
Decided to climb the hill behind the rocks for a different, elevated, perspective. |
Rows of pines unnaturally in their natural environment. |
It was a nice hike, but all good things must come to an end. |
